Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has continued the remarkable start to his international career by making massive gains on the latest ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings.
Sooryavanshi collected his first Player of the Series award while amassing 151 runs at an average of 50.33 during India’s recent 3-0 series sweep over Zimbabwe in Harare, and his exploits were not missed on the weekly rankings that were updated by the ICC on Wednesday.
The 15-year-old rose a total of 230 places to find a new career-best rating in 48th position for T20I batters behind No.1 ranked teammate Ishan Kishan at the top of the rankings for T20I batters.
Kishan collected his own career-high rating following the second game of the series in Zimbabwe, with the left-hander scoring a superb 81 to rise to 916 points – the third highest batting rating of all time behind teammate Abhishek Sharma (931 rating points) and England’s Dawid Malan (919). Kishan dropped back to 910 points at the completion of the series, but is still well ahead of second-placed Sahibzada Farhan (848).
Sooryavanshi’s rating of 536 points is well adrift of his more experienced teammates, but Kishan can now boast of having a better career batter rating than more accomplished Indian players like Suryakumar Yadav (912) and Virat Kohli (909).
