What are the changes after the ICC men’s ODI rankings annual update?
This year’s update to the rankings removed results achieved by teams prior to April 30, 2023. Additionally, results achieved between May 1, 2024 and April 30, 2025 switched from a 100 per cent to 50 per cent weightage, meaning teams could move up or down without playing any matches. One result of this change saw South Africa and Pakistan switch places in fourth and fifth. India lost one rating point, but remained on top of the standings.
Further down the table, both England (8th) and Bangladesh (9th) gained a rating point each, while West Indies (10th) lost three rating points. None of them changed positions in the table, but Bangladesh are now ten points ahead of West Indies, compared to six earlier. This has ramifications for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
