Lakith Peiris’ Go For Gold web song, Sri Lankan Lionesses on the Rise’ rendered by famous vocalists Melantha Perera and Judy Silva, the English version and Gypsies band leader Piyal Silva the Sinhala version as well as Swarniya the Tamil version, was a smashing hit last night at the Hilton Colombo.
The song written by Srian Obeyesekere and edited by Melantha Perera is aimed at boosting the morale of the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team for this September’s ICC T20 Women’s World Cup.
Lakith Peiris, owner of Go For Gold Website delivering the welcome address, made the point that it was the first time that Hilton Colombo had sponsored a cricket related eventt by way of accommodating the event and refreshments , and he thanked the hotel General Manager, Manesh Fernando for the generous gesture as well as the main sponsor Enchant Perfume’ Country Manager, Udara Nissanka.
The occasion also held out a golden tinge for Lakith Peiris and his Go For Gold website team by the very simultaneous official launch of the website where he emphasised the importance of the contribution it makes towards making the local sports world, particularly cricket a better place for the country’s youth involved with the game.
Lakith, a man with a great passion for the game of cricket who has hobnobbed both locally and overseas in encouraging the country’s cricket heroes dating back to the eras of Bandula Warnapura, Duleep Mendis and Arjuna Ranatunga, recalled fond memories when he entertained the cricketers at his home while based in Dubai as one of Kodak’s top executives which he joined following a glowing executive career at Celltell Lanka.
