For the first time in 2026, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will duke it out, with the No. 1 ranking on the line.
Both have dropped one set en route to the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters final. The top-seeded Alcaraz is the reigning champion, while No. 2 seed Sinner seeks his first 1000-level title on clay.
After Alcaraz began this season on a 16-match win streak, highlighted by completing a Career Grand Slam at the Australian Open, Sinner has since matched that unbeaten run with a Sunshine Double in hand.
The prior year, the Spaniard took four of the pair’s six clashes—including both on red dirt at Rome and Roland Garros.
The two have battled 16 times at the tour level, with Alcaraz coming out on the winning end on 10 occasions. A look at their history:

Before their first tour-level encounter, the two faced off at the 2019 Alicante Challenger. Alcaraz, just 15, prevailed over a then 17-year-old Sinner thanks to a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory.
n each of the last two seasons, Alcaraz and Sinner have evenly split the four majors—something that hadn’t happened before this generational rivalry took over men’s tennis.
