Band cancels Coachella set because of ‘acute brain injury’

There are always a few last minute cancellations and additions to the Coachella lineup, be they Frank Ocean-sized headliners dropping out or stadium rockers like Jack White joining the bill. This afternoon, one of the fest’s punk undercards announced they will no longer perform due to a serious injury.

British punk band Lambrini Girls, who were scheduled to perform on Saturday, April 11, at 3 p.m., said Wednesday via social media that they are canceling their entire American tour (Jack White will now perform in their time slot). In an Instagram post, they announced that guitarist Phoebe Lunny fractured their neck and now has an “acute brain injury.”

“TLDR: happened in australia. misdiagnosed. late treatment. doctors orders are I can’t fly or perform for 6 weeks,” the post read. They clarified that shows in the United Kingdom and Europe will continue as planned, and listed rescheduled dates for American shows in June and September.

The post continued with a note to American ticket holders about the current political climate and using music as a way to carve out community in the face of fascism. They go on to state that the injury is simply too serious to ignore.

“We want to be there so badly,” the post read. “If it was a broken leg, I would do a dave grohl and play it.” Despite the severity, the statement clarifies that the band expects a speedy recovery.

Lambrini Girls released their debut single in 2021, going on to earn critical nods from Rolling Stone and NME, who named them on their list of 100 trending artists in 2023. They’ve been politically outspoken throughout their career, championing LGBTQ rights, criticizing the British government, and dropping out of festivals like SXSW as protests against sponsors supporting the Israel’s war in Gaza. Their debut LP in 2025, “Who Let The Dogs Out,” reached No. 1 on the British Rock and Metal chart. Their most recent single, “Cult of Celebrity,” hit streaming services in March.
