They negotiated tough bowling spells and dominated the loose deliveries on offer. Nissanka made 79 off 103 balls while Mendis scored 72 runs off 62 balls, hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes. Charith Asalanka and Janith Liyanage also made brilliant contributions of 45 and 44 runs respectively as Sri Lanka managed to reach a tall total of 303 in 50 overs of play.
During the chase, West Indies lost John Campbell quite early into the innings. Justin Greaves and Keacy Carty then started carting the bowlers to all parts, especially Justin Greaves.
