Sri Lanka A whitewashed New Zealand A in the 3 match unofficial home ODI series driving the final nail by a 4-wicket margin with 22 balls to spare in a dramatic high scoring game surmounting the Kiwis mountainous 302 in 50 overs at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.

Two down New Zealand came back strongly in mounting a dwarfing 300 plus total on the century heroics of Muhammad Abbas who slammed a run a ball enterprising 110 containing 6 sixes and 7 boundaries well supported by Matthew Boyle 80 off 85 with 12 boundaries.

But Abbas’ heroics were undone by a faster paced Lankans in three handsome half centuries by Kamil Mishara 83 off 81 with 6 boundaries and 5 over the top, Pavan Rathnsyake 62 off 77 (10×4, 2×6) and Sahan Wickramasinghe 64 off 52 (7×4, 2×6), the latter winning the Player of the Match award.

The series win also marked a silver lining in former cricketer turned head coach Ashan Priyanjan’s career on the job on a successful note.
