I met with Catholic religious leaders, led by His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo, at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (10).
During the meeting, the Catholic religious leaders expressed their blessings for the Government’s programme over the past two years to ensure coexistence, peace and reconciliation among all communities, without allowing any ethnic conflict to arise in the country.
The progress of investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks was also discussed, while extensive attention was given to the steps that should be taken to address the issues faced by the Catholic community, including the development of infrastructure in areas where Catholic communities reside.
