During an appearance on Anupam Kher’s show, The Anupam Kher Show, Shah Rukh Khan revealed a personal struggle that caught many of his fans by surprise. He spoke openly about his feelings of loneliness and how it affects him during the night.
In a heartfelt conversation with Anupam Kher, Shah Rukh shared that he often finds himself feeling alone at home, especially at night. He admitted that he struggles with sleep, saying, “Main raatko so nahi paata hoon, ek akelapan aur… main jyada so nahi paata. Mujhe raatko neend nahi aati. Main 3-4 ghanta he so paata hoon. I feel lonely at home. I feel jo log creative hote hai unke dimaag mein raatko he khayal aate hai. Main bhi raatko sochte rehta hoon. Kabhi kuch padhta hoon. Raat mein mujhe akelapan mehsoos hota hai.”
In English, the quote translates to: “I can’t sleep at night, there’s a loneliness and… I don’t sleep much. I don’t get sleep at night. I can sleep for only 3-4 hours. I feel lonely at home. I think, people who are creative, their minds are active at night. I too keep thinking at night. Sometimes, I read something. At night, I feel a sense of loneliness.”
Shah Rukh Khan further explained how he enjoys the quietude of the night. Despite his solitude, he finds solace in the stillness, saying, “Ya toh mujhe akelapan mehsoos hota hai isliye nahi so paata hoon. Raatko jo sannate hote hai jo quiet rehta hai sab cheez wo mujhe achi lagti hai. I like it.” He added that, on some nights, he watches television to pass the time.
