Bryson DeChambeau will be a key player for the United States Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black next month due to his enormous popularity, prodigious length off the tee and incredible scrambling ability.
DeChambeau is somewhat disconnected from the rest of the US Ryder Cup, though, due to the fact that he plies his trade on LIV Golf.
However, Keegan Bradley was stunned by DeChambeau qualifying for the Ryder Cup team from just eight events.
Bradley‘s biggest surprise decision was when he refused to pick himself, after his stellar 2025 season on the PGA Tour.
Instead, Bradley opted to select Sam Burns as his final Ryder Cup pick.
And another one of the 39-year-old’s captain’s picks has been tipped to partner up with DeChambeau at Bethpage Black in September.
Two-time PGA Tour winner could be the perfect Ryder Cup partner for Bryson DeChambeau
Ben Griffin experienced a wonderful season on the PGA Tour in 2025, with two wins to his name – one with a partner (Andrew Novak) and one with his own ball.
Griffin burst onto the scene earlier this year and became an instant hit with the fans after it became common knowledge that he had given up the game just a few years earlier to become a mortgage loan officer.
Griffin earned rave reviews from Ryder Cup vice-captain Webb Simpson back at the Wyndham Championship earlier this month.
And Bradley obviously listened closely to Simpson’s praise of the 29-year-old.
When speaking on the Fried Egg Podcast, Gabby Herzig tipped Griffin to play alongside DeChambeau at Bethpage.
“I was just thinking about who Bryson is going to play with and this is a tricky one because his asset for the team is his driving distance,“ she explained.
“I’m trying to think about who would match with him personality-wise and it’s kind of come down to potentially Ben Griffin and Bryson.
“The way that Ben Griffin played some of his final rounds where he made some late charges and he was walking in putts and was doing the whole showmanship thing that came out of him kind of reminded me of mini-Bryson vibes.
“I can see them matching because Ben Griffin kind of feels like the new kid on the block in the team room and Bryson is kind of an outsider because of the LIV situation.“
The podcast host Andy Johnson weighed in with his opinion on the matter.
He said: “I think you’ve nailed that from what I’ve gathered the general belief with Ben Griffin is that, it came down to between Keegan and Ben Griffin.
“One thing that came out with the Ben Griffin case was, who is going to play with Bryson, and all signs point to Ben Griffin.
“You know, Griffin is an active TikTok-er, they’ve got a shared interest there.“
