India’s wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat is set to join Dulwich Cricket Club for the Surrey Championship 2025 season. The London-based club has signed him for the upcoming campaign. Despite a solid first-class career, the Andhra Pradesh batsman has found it difficult to find a regular place in India’s Test side.
Bharat has appeared in 105 first-class games, scoring 5686 runs, 10 centuries, and 32 half-centuries. But he has struggled to find himself in India’s red-ball team.
Bharat Aims for a Comeback
The 31-year-old wants to leave an impression in red-ball cricket and seeks opportunities to do so. With an uncertain spot in the Indian team, he hopes that turning out for Surrey in the Championship, a Division 1 competition, will impress selectors.
Bharat last played a Test match for India in the 2024 home series against England. He featured in the first two matches before being dropped. India won the series 4-1. He has played seven Tests, scoring 221 runs at an average of 20.09.
He was also part of India’s squad for the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) final, where India lost to Australia at The Oval. Since then, opportunities for him have been limited, especially with the return of Rishabh Pant.
Bharat Goes Unsold in IPL 2025 Auction
Bharat’s struggles are not limited to the Test format. He also went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, despite setting a base price of INR 75 lakh.
Earlier, he represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2023 and Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2024. His top IPL performance was against DC when he helped RCB chase 165 with his knock of 78 off 52 balls.
Even with the latest disappointments, KS Bharat is determined to revive his career. A good performance in England’s domestic league will increase his probability of a national comeback.
