Sri Lanka Women burdend with fielding issues and lack of talent in World Cup 25

Sri Lankan lassies are fortunate to be a part of this world cup, at the expense of West indies.

The team is an Attapathu based eleven because if she scores, the rest will join, if she falls like what she does more often than not now, then they all scatter.

Sri Lanka has a few hopefuls like Vishmy Gunaratne, Kavisha Dilhari and a bit of spice from senior players like Harshitha Samarawickrema, Nilakshika de Silva and vice Captain Anushka Sanjeevani, but sadly none of these players are world class, but very domestic based.

Chamarie Attapathu is ageing, and so are most of the players. The catches they dropped against India proved that Sri Lanka and Pakistan have a “B” division type of team, hence playing against Australia, India , England, New Zealand, and South. Africa will be a one-sided result.

Today, these lassies play against England. Does Sri Lanka have the batters to cope with England’s spin attack and the seam? Definitely doubtful in the international stage unless Attapathu comes good.

Sri Lanka Women are burdened with Inoka Ranaweera, Achini Kulasooriya, and udeshika Prabodhini, who are above 35 and look lethargic.

I think the senior players, including Chamarie Attapathu, must move out of the squad after this World Cup and young players be given the opportunity to play alongside Vimukthi , Sanjeevani and Kavisha Dilhari who look fit to stay in the park.
