The Sri Lanka ‘A’ team, led by Wicketkeeper-batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama, took wing yesterday for the United Arab Emirates for the upcoming Tri-Nation One-Day Cricket Series involving the Afghanistan and Ireland ‘A’ teams.
This tournament, hosted by the Afghanistan Cricket Board adding significance to the event, will commence on April 18 in Abu Dhabi with the matches to be staged at the Abu Dhabi International Cricket Stadium.
The Lankan squad includes several players with national team experience – fast bowlers Dilshan Madushanka, Sahan Arachchige, Nuwanidu Fernando, Lahiru Udara, Kamil Mishara, and all-rounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe.
The first match of the series will take place on April 13, with Sri Lanka facing Ireland. The team will then play Afghanistan on April 15, followed by a second match against Ireland on April 19. Sri Lanka’s final round-robin match is set for April 23 against Afghanistan.
The grand finale, featuring the top two teams based on points, will be held on April 25 at the same venue.
