Abhishek Sharma broke the record for highest score in the history of the IPL by an Indian and helped the Sunrisers Hyderabad get back to winning ways in spectacular fashion. Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier seemed to be doing a relatively good job in the death overs of the Punjab Kings’ innings but it was all undone quite spectacularly by Marcus Stoinis as he tonked four sixes off the last four balls of the 20th over bowled by Mohammed Shami. Punjab Kings finished with a score of 245/6 in 20 overs. (AFP)
Central to SRH’s poor start to the season was Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma’s inability to put a good opening stand together. They shook off the poor form in spectacular manner, raising SRH’s 50 in just 21 balls and pushing them to a score of 83/0 in the powerplay. (AP)
Abhishek enjoyed quite an extraordinary dose of luck, being caught off a no ball in the fourth over and then being dropped on 56 off 22 balls by Yuzvendra Chahal off his own bowling. (REUTERS)
Abhishek made the most of those chances though and he was the aggressor initially in the stand with Head. He scored his half-century in just 19 balls. (ANI)
