South Africa had Sri Lanka on the rack at 205/5 in a chase of 348 on the fourth day at St George’s Park on Sunday. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 238 on the fifth morning of the contest as they lost five wickets for the addition of just 33 runs.
Spinner Keshav Maharaj took five wickets Kagiso Rabada and Dane Paterson took two wickets each.
Captain Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Mendis took up Sri Lanka’s counterattack from 122/5 to lift them to 219/5 and keep them alive but South African bowlers proved too hot to handle for them on the final day.
