Sneh Rana Creates History, Becomes First Player In The World After 23 Years To Register Stunning Feat

Sneh Rana etched her name in the history books as her four-wicket haul against Sri Lana in the Tri-series final helped India defeat the host by 97 runs in the summit clash on Sunday (May 11) at the iconic R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Rana continued her red-hot form after a century by Smriti Mandhana helped India post a massive total of 342 on the board. The star spinner took four wickets, which included the scalps of Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu, Nilakshi de Silva, Anushka Sanjeevwani, and Malki Madra. She finished with figures of 4-38 in 9.2 overs as the home team were bowled out for 245.

Sneh Rana finished the series with 15 wickets to her name and was awarded the Player of the Match (POTM) award. The 31-year-old started the tournament with a three-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in the opening game before taking a five-for against South Africa. She also three wickets in India’s defeat to Sri Lanka in the two teams’ second league stage game.
Rana etched her name in history by breaking the record for the most wickets in a tri-series in Women’s ODI. Her tally of 15 wickets is the joint-most in a women’s multi-nation series. She is the first player to take 15 wickets in a Women’s ODI series involving 3-4 teams after Cathryn Fitzpatrick of Australia in the World Series of Women’s Cricket in 2003.
Rana also broke Nooshin-Al Khadeer’s record for the most wickets by an Indian in a women’s ODI multi-nation series.
