For decades, Salman Khan and his Eid releases have been a much-awaited event for cinema lovers. Every year, his fans wait eagerly for his movie on Eid, and he tries not to disappoint them by releasing a blockbuster. This year, he came with his much-awaited movie, ‘Sikandar,’ which has been the talk of the town for a long time. However, the lukewarm reception of the movie at the box office showed that the movie couldn’t live up to the hype. Nevertheless, the movie got a boost on Eid, leading the total business to Rs.55 crore in India.
Sikandar Day 2 Collection in India
According to the Sacnilk report, the movie opened with Rs. 26 crore across all languages in India. On Monday, the movie saw a surge, with a collection of ₹29 crore. This business came with an overall occupancy rate of 24.60 percent in Hindi. The morning show saw 8.38 percent footfall, while the occupancy during the afternoon shows was 26.70 percent, and in the evening shows, it was 30.18 percent. The best footfall rate was seen during the night shows, which was 33.12 percent.
‘Sikandar’ vs ‘Chhaava’
In February, when ‘Chhaava’ was released, it opened with Rs. 31 crore domestically and Rs. 54 crore worldwide. This made the Vicky Kaushal starrer the highest opening movie of 2025. With the release of ‘Sikandar,’ it was expected that the Salman Khan starrer would break the previous record and take the crown. However, its opening figures failed to do so.
‘Sikandar’
Directed by AR Murugadoss, the movie has marked Salman’s return to the big screen. His previous release was in 2023, and ‘Sikandar’ was initially scheduled to hit the big screens in 2024, but the film got delayed. The movie also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, and Sharman Joshi in pivotal roles.
‘Sikandar’ review
Times Of India gave the movie two stars out of five and our review reads – “The predictable storyline is paired with a generic background score by Santhosh Narayanan. Kevin Kumar’s action direction is limited, with no jaw-dropping, extraordinary stunts to impress you. The few action sequences feel repetitive, with slow-motion shots, flying goons, and exploding cars.”
“Salman Khan drives the film with his signature star power. He strives to deliver an emotional, action-packed performance, but the sluggish narrative holds him back, while throwing in some over-the-top dialogues like, “Ab insaaf ki nahi, inhe saaf karne ki zaroorat hai.” Rashmika Mandanna has a few scenes and some songs, but the problem is not that,” our review continued.
Sikandar Online Leak
Amid the excitement of the fans and the box office debut, one thing that disappointed everyone was the online leak of the movie. The news of the online leak started spreading like a wildfire only a few houses after the release of the movie. However, reportedly, it happened even before the movie made it to the theatres. Trade experts believe that this might impact the box office of the movie.
Speaking to ANI on the same matter, Komal Nahta shared, “This morning (on release date), I spoke to seven or eight people in the trade, and they confirmed that the film had been leaked. I was also told that Sajid Nadiadwala and the authorized team worked hard to remove the film from many piracy websites. But by then, the damage was already done. It spreads very fast.”
‘Sikandar’ shows being pulled out due to lack of audience?
Despite the ongoing box-office debate, it seems like ‘Sikandar’ is struggling at the box office, facing an unexpected setback on its second day. Reports indicate that morning shows of the film are being cancelled due to low audience attendance. Film critic Amod Mehra shared his shock on social media, writing, “SHOCKING.. Just heard shows of #Sikandar are being cancelled due to no audience” (sic). He also posted a screenshot showing no audience for the 12:30 pm show at a popular cinema hall in Andheri, Mumbai.
