The Sri Lanka Press Council has a new chairman and three director board members.
Media minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa handed over their appointment letters recently.
The SLPC’s new chairman is award-winning writer, critic and veteran journalist Priyan R. Wijebandara, who counts nearly 25 years in print and new media.
Lawyer Dr. Anushka Kahandagamage, a social scientist is one of the directors.
Another director is journalist and lawyer Mahisha Mudugamuwa, presently news editor of ‘The Sunday Morning’.
Writer and translator Devadasan Sendilvevaler, who has been in journalism for more than 30 years is the other director. He is presently the chief editor of ‘Thinakaran’ and ‘Varamanjari’.
