Crossover alert!
On Wednesday, Carlos Alcaraz linked up with countryman Jon Rahm in Madrid for a special outing on the golf course.
Rahm, a two-time major winner and former No. 1 in his sport, emerged for his first appearance since helping Europe defeat the U.S. in the Ryder Cup by contributing three points to his team over the three-day competition. Alcaraz came in on the back of capturing his seventh title of the year on his Tokyo debut, before withdrawing from the Shanghai Masters due to a left ankle injury,
The two joined forces for nine holes in the Open de España Pro-Am. A look at their meetup:
Alcaraz recently shared a round of golf with Roger Federer, Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud in San Francisco. The group of four had the opportunity to play at the Olympic Club, a five-time host of the U.S. Open, in the lead up to the Laver Cup won by Team World.
The Spaniard currently leads rival Jannik Sinner by more than 2500 points in the race for year-end No. 1. Alcaraz’s next expected tour-level appearance is the Paris Masters, ahead of the ATP Finals in Turin. The 22-year-old will look to add new hardware to his trophy cabinet, having yet to stand in the winner’s circle at either event.
