United Southern escaped defeat narrowly at the hands of Nugegoda & Welfare Sports Club after being bundled out for 54 and losing 8 wickets for 167 in their second innings after Nugegoda’s 231 in a SLC U23 Emerging Clubs Tournament fixture played at the Saliyapura Grounds, Anuradhapura yesterday.
A feature of the match was Nugegoda’s Daham Nirmal’s outstanding 6 wickets for 19 runs in decimating their opponents in their first innings.
Nugegoda’s Palindu Perera top scored with 59 while United Southern was indebted to Hansa Ishan who made a resolute 49, and Thamidu Pradeep 24 while Senira Lithmin stay put unbeaten on 25 to the close.
