Not Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians! Sunil Gavaskar picks the favourites for IPL title in 2025

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are on a roll in their IPL 2025 campaign. They are now no.1 in the points table, having won eight of their last 11 games. While they have qualified for the playoffs , RCB wants to win the remaining three matches.

In IPL 2025, the inclusion of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood has brought much-needed stability and depth to RCB’s pace attack. Rajat Patidar’s team has played exceptionally well in the 18th season. Former India player believes 2025 is RCB’s year. He said that RCB are ahead in terms of overall strength, even though the Mumbai Indians have a well-balanced team.

“Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They’ve batted well and fielded superbly too. Mumbai Indians are close, but they’ve only just started their surge. The question is whether they can maintain it, as they have three tough matches coming up against top teams. RCB are definitely the title favourites,” Gavaskar told India Today.

RCB have long been known for their explosive batting, but their bowling unit has often lacked consistency. However, the issue was addressed in the mega auction. Apart from Bhuvneshwar and Hazlewood, Krunal Pandya has added further balance to the attack. RCB have assembled a strong and balanced squad this season.
