Mumbai Indians trounce Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets to reach 3rd spot

Trent Boult Player of the Match 4/26 for Mumbai INdians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad is indebted to Enrich Klassan who saved their day with a game changing 71 after being reduced to 24 for 4 wickets in the power play overs, and 35 for 5 in the 9th over following the dismissal of Aniket Varma. The much needed rescue came from Enrich Klassan and Manohar 43 in a face saving 6th wicket partnership of 99.
But that wouldn’t take Sunrisers th full stretch as it was to be.

Chasing 146 in good batting conditions was a walk in the park for the Mumbai Indians especially with the return to form of Rohit Sharma and the consistency of Suryakumar Yadav
Trent Boult blew away the Sunrisers batters like nine pins whilst Rohit Sharma struck the hapless Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers like executing his repertoire of strokes at a net practice session.

144 as a target was achieved with an envisaged objective of first getting to the target and boosting the net run rate to get to the top 4 and be within striking distance of the playoffs.

SRH did the Mumbai Indians a forced favour. Their batting faulted with Travis Head and Ishan Kishan failing again, and the bowlers put under tremendous pressure to defend a below par score only to be cartered round the park.

Rohit Sharma struck 70 off 46 balls with 8 boundaries and 3 sixes whilst Suryakumar Yadav flayed 40 off 19 balls with 8 hits to the ropes and 2 over the top. His strike rate was 210.32.
Trent Boult was pinpoint accurate in targeting the stumps whilst in pursuit against the SRH batters in both spells in the power play as well as in the death overs . The left arm seamer from New Zealand took 4 for 26 in his quota of 4 overs.
As it is, Sunrisers tournament prospects look dim unless their batsmen come out with miracle performances in the rest of the games.

The Mahela Jayawardena coached team thus climbed up the order to 3rd place with Sunrisers Hydrabad at number 9 next to Chennai Super Kings in 10th place.
