After winning 16 consecutive matches dating back to the Adelaide International, Keys’ run was ended by Aryna Sabalenka, who got revenge from the Australian Open final in emphatic fashion.
Despite no longer having her winning streak, Keys is at a career-high ranking and has already achieved something by the end of March that she had not done since 2018.

Keys won the Australian Open back in January, and elected to skip tournaments in February before returning for Indian Wells.
The American has only played four tournaments so far in 2025, but has already amassed more ranking points than she did throughout the entirety of the past six seasons.
Having earnt 2,944 ranking points already this year, with nearly two thirds of that coming from her Australian Open win, Keys is now bidding to earn her most ranking points in a calendar year.
Keys last earned more ranking points in a calendar year in 2018, but needs to win just one match at the Miami Open to surpass that total as well.
The most prolific season of her career so far came in 2016 (4,137 points), with Keys trailing that total by 1,193 points in March.
