Laver Cup London 2026 ‘Really motivated’ Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz confirmed for ‘unique’ tournament as Team World look to defend title

Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz have confirmed they will compete in the 2026 Laver Cup in London to renew their rivalry in the competition. World No. 1 Alcaraz and No. 6 Fritz have met in crucial matches in each of the last two editions, with the pair winning a match each. Team World will be defending their title after Fritz beat Alcaraz for the first time in the 2025 edition in San Francisco.

Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz have confirmed they will compete in the ninth edition of the Laver Cup at the O2 in London next September, which will be exclusively live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

It follows the recent 15-9 victory of Team World over Team Europe in San Francisco.

The pair already have a storied record in this competition, having produced some of the most dramatic moments in Laver Cup history.

Fritz defeated world No. 1 Alcaraz for the first time in California, before going on to beat world No. 3 Alexander Zverev to hand Andre Agassi’s Team World their third title.
In Berlin in 2024, it was Alcaraz who beat Fritz in the 12th match to secure the title for Team Europe.

Now they will again lock horns in London as Europe vie to win their title back and secure a sixth Laver Cup.

It will be the third time the O2 has hosted the Laver Cup, having also been the stage for the 2017 and 2022 editions.
Three years ago saw Roger Federer bring his iconic career to an end, appearing alongside the other members of the ‘Big Four,’ Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
Speaking on his return to the competition and playing in London, Alcaraz said: “To play at The O2 in London is going to be amazing.
“Having the chance to be in a team with players that normally I’m fighting against during the year is really unique and what makes me keep wanting to play Laver Cup every year.
“Hopefully, we’ll have the crowd behind us and I’m really motivated to help Team Europe win the Laver Cup back.”
