KUMAR SANGAKKARA… From SL Cricketer to first Asian to head MCC to England Head Coach

What a roller coaster Storybook type of cricketing odyssey it has been for Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara.

Standing close to all-time legend Sir Donald Bradman as far as most double centuries in Test cricket go from a schoolboy cricketer from the hill environs of Trinity College who went on to captain Sri Lanka in reaching the zenith of national run getters. That the wicket-keeper batsman mounted the Everest of Sri Lankan Cricket is indeed a magical saga by itself. That he went several miles further to straddling the citadel of Cricket’s hallowed Marlybourne Cricket Club as the first Asian to head it was an out of this world singularity unique achievement.

Today, the mercurial Lankan product with a witty outgoing character with a matching scholarly baritone voice who distinguished himself to anointing himself in the legal profession, has reached another milestone to becoming Head Coach of the England Cricket team.

It is by and large a new planet Kumar Sangakkara has entered doing his country proud as a trail blazer of several vistas, the last of which he’s just entered triggering a new innings.
