Julio Cesar Chavez Sr Delivers Honest Verdict On Son’s Fight With Jake Paul: “He Hits Hard”

Jake Paul continues his boxing journey when he faces Julio Cesar Chavez Jr next month.

It’s been a rapid rise for the Youtuber-turned-boxer, who last time out defeated boxing legend Mike Tyson on points after eight rounds in a controversial match-up in November.

Despite the criticism from a lot of boxing figures, the event generated huge interest, and led to Paul targeting a number of big names for his next contest, including Canelo Alvarez and Gervonta Davis.

None of those fights were able to come to fruition, with Paul instead now facing former middleweight world champion Chavez Jr in California on June 25.

It’s been a difficult period for Chavez Jr, who after losing his WBC middleweight title over a decade ago in 2012 has never been able to return to those heights, famously missing weight in some contests and losing bouts that he was heavily favoured to win.

It is a stark contrast to his father Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all time and was known for his never say die attitude in the ring.

Chavez Sr has now weighed in on his son’s upcoming bout with Paul, telling Seconds Out that he believes his son can be victorious if he is at his best.

Paul is expected to also fight later in the year if he defeats Chavez Jr, and promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed who ‘The Problem Child’ will be fighting.
