Taylor Fritz revealed himself a man of the people in the hours after leading Team World to a stunning Laver Cup victory over Team Europe, beating the defending champion’s top two players (Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev) to clinch a 15-9 win on Sunday.
Though he teased a night of celebrating on court with interviewer Sam Querrey, Fritz’s girlfriend Morgan Riddle revealed the top-ranked American’s social battery may have run dry earlier than expected.
The popular social media influencer shared a hilarious DM exchange in which Fritz shared a sweet cat meme courtesy of aggregate account @awesome.kitten.
“aren’t you at the club?” asks in reply to the sent-before-midnight meme.
Fritz, 27, has opened up about his introverted ways early in his career—describing himself as “shy in person” and dealing with “pretty bad social anxiety”—and later embraced the label when doing the “Suspect Challenge” Tik Tok trend with Riddle last year.
“Suspect has such bad social anxiety he can’t order his own drink at Starbucks,” teased Riddle.
The post got high marks from fans on Reddit, who called the move a “green flag” and “introvert at the club coded.”
The current world No. 5 in the ATP rankings, Fritz will aim for more memeable moments—along with some low-key celebrations—this fall when he plays for the chance to qualify for a third ATP Finals berth, having finished runner-up at the season-ending championships in 2024.
