Former England batsman Ian Bell is expected to boost Sri Lanka’s fortunes in the upcoming 3-match test series against England in the role of Batting Consultant.
The move by Sri Lanka Cricket which was announced by its Chief Executive Officer, Ashley de Silva, will see the former England middle order batsman coordinate with Sri Lanka batting coach, Thilina Kandamby to imparting valuable input as to the English pitches and conditions.
The 42-year old Bell will accordingly join the Sri Lanka squad in his role on August 16 as batting consultant to the team.
Bell’s services were solicited on the recommendation of Sri Lanka Interim Head Coach Sanath Jayasuriya who has emphasized the importance of the team obtaining first hand know how from English expertise such as Bell.
Bell’s glowing career with England spanned 118 test appearances, 161 ODIs and 8 T20s.
