A retired heavyweight champion has spoken out and ranked himself higher than the late-great Muhammad Ali.
Best known as ‘The Greatest’, Ali is regarded by many as being the greatest fighter of all time, rising to fame in the late 1960’s after he captured an Olympic Gold Medal at the 1960 Summer games in Rome.
Ali’s crowning moment in the professional ranks came in 1964 when he knocked out the legendary Sonny Liston in the sixth round of their fight to capture the world heavyweight championship for the first time.
After his career was put on hold for over four years due to his refusal in enlisting for the war in Vietnam, ‘The Greatest’ returned to the ring in the early 1970’s where he would reclaim the heavyweight title in 1974 when he defeated George Foreman in ‘The Rumble In The Jungle’.
Despite Ali’s sensational accomplishments, there is one retired heavyweight who has spoken out and claimed he is actually the greatest of all time.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Evander ‘The Real Deal’ Holyfield staked his claim for being the best ever, talking down the credentials of Ali in an honest interview.
Holyfield remains one of only two fighters in boxing history to capture the undisputed championship at cruiserweight and heavyweight respectively, as well as being the only fighter in boxing history to win the heavyweight championship on four seperate occasions.
