Health minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa has extended an open invitation to trade unions in the sector to support the government in providing an efficient service free of strikes and protests.
They could submit their positive views and suggestions with regard to the ongoing government programme in that regard, he said at a meeting with health sector TUs.
While commending the commitment and efforts by health professionals, the minister observed the country’s excellent health indicators, for which he expressed his gratitude.
The meeting was part of a series of dialogues with TUs representing doctors, nurses, paramedics etc. to discuss their issues and those in the health sector.
Minister Jayatissa found most of the raised issues to be legitimate and promised to give them speedy and reasonable solutions.
Also present on the occasion were health secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe and director general of health services Dr. Asela Gunawardena.
