Galle trounced Dambulla by 145 runs yesterday in their Sri Lanka Cricket National Super League fixture on the fourth and final day with Sri Lankan cap Dunith Wellalage returning an impeccable haul of 6 wickets for 26 runs and Dilum Sudeera 4 for 48 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.
Dambulla just managed to take their pathetic overnight 26 for 6 across the 100 mark, thanks to a dogged 28 by Akila Dananjaya who was a game loser to go with his 6-wicket haul.
Wellalage added two more to his overnight 4 wickets for 3 with Dilum Sudeera playing a superb supporting role with the other two scalps.
Meanwhile, Colombo wriggled out of the first innings 106 holocaust to force a draw against Kandy ending on 313 for 7 chasing an imposing 599 target, thanks to half centuries by Avishka Fernando 74 off 141 balls with 6 boundaries and Charith Asalanka 65 off 93 hitting 9 boundaries a six followed by an the eighth-wicket unfinished 55-run pairing between Shehan Fernando 39 off 112 with 2 fours and Kasun Rajitha a game 16 off 67 with a boundary to taking Colombo out of the woods when Kandy threatened to go through.
Kandy followed up their 460 declaring the second innings on 244 for 3 declared with Nuwanidu Fernando getting into his aggressive element with an unbeaten 100 and Janishka Perera 93.
