England team: Elliot Daly one of SIX changes as Steve Borthwick continues with Pom Squad

England head coach Steve Borthwick has made six alterations to his starting line-up for their Autumn Nations Series Test against Argentina at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Sunday.

The big news is the return to action of experienced utility back Elliot Daly, who comes into the run-on side as a replacement for speedster Tom Roebuck.

Daly is set to play his first game since suffering a fractured forearm while playing for the British & Irish Lions during their tour of Australia in July.

The 33-year-old sustained the injury in the famous touring team’s victory over the Queensland Reds.
Daly to start on the left wing

He will line up on the left wing for England with Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, who wore the number 11 jersey in the Red Rose’s triumph over the All Blacks last week, shifting to the right wing while Freddie Steward continues at full-back.

Meanwhile, Maro Itoje will continue to skipper the side from the second-row and he will be supported by his vice-captains, George Ford and Ellis Genge.

Genge, Luke Cowan-Dickie, Asher Opoku-Fordjour, Ben Spencer and Henry Slade are the other new faces in the starting line-up.

Slade takes over from Ollie Lawrence at outside centre and will form a centre partnership with Fraser Dingwall while Ford and Spencer are the half-back combination.

Meanwhile, Genge and Opoku-Fordjour are the starting props while Cowan-Dickie packs down alongside them at hooker to form a new front-row and they come in for Fin Baxter, Joe Heyes and Jamie George respectively.

The rest of the forwards retain their starting berths with Itoje joined Alex Coles in the engine room while Ben Earl packs down at number eight with Sam Underhill and Guy Pepper the two flankers.

Borthwick has gone with a 6/2 split on his bench again, with Theo Dan, Baxter, Will Stuart, Charlie Ewels, Tom Curry and Henry Pollock named as the forward replacements while Alex Mitchell and Marcus Smith are the backline reinforcements.

“Last weekend gave us plenty to build on, and now the challenge is to push our performance further,” said Borthwick.

“Argentina play with emotion and physicality, and they’ve shown they can beat the best in world rugby this year. We know how dangerous they can be, and we are preparing for a fiercely contested Test match.

“We have felt exceptional support at Allianz Stadium throughout this series. It provides a real lift for the players, and we hope to create lasting memories for our supporters on Sunday.”
