Dushan, Lahiru pilot Sri Lanka ‘A’ to victory

Dushan Hementha had fine figures of 5 for 48 while Opener Lahiru Udara hit superb knock of 86 as Sri Lanka ‘A’ recorded 30 run win over South Africa ‘A’ in their second unofficial ODI game to clinch (2-0) series win with one game to spare at at Potchefstroom on Monday.

Sri Lanka A led by Pasindu Sooriyabandara opted to bat first and scored 270 for 7 wickets in their 50 overs while South Africa A were all out for 239 in 41.1 overs and right arm leg spinner Dushan Hementha did most of the damage taking 5 for 48 in his 8 over spell while good supporting role by leggie Wanuja Sahan with 2 for 52.

Earlier Kamil Mishara and Lahiru Udara opened the innings but their stay at the crease lasted only 6 overs as Mishara was first to out scoring 10 in 13 balls Nuwanidu Fernando the previous match hero lost his wicket for just 2 runs while the skipper Sooriyabandara made 21 runs in 40 balls.

Sri Lanka were in 85/3 after 20.5 overs but opener Udara and all rounder Sahan Arachchige adedd 72-runsfor the 4th wicket to build up the innings.

Udara was the top scorer for Sri Lanka as he made 86 runs off 95 balls with 11 fours and a six while Arachchige hit 52 runs off 56 balls with 4 fours and a six.Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Sonal Dinusha made 48 and 37 not out which gave them to reach respectable total of 270 for 7 wickets in 50 overs.

South Africa A chasing a target of 271 qhil Meeka -eel Prince 44 in 46 balls and number three batter Matthew Breetzke who scored solid knock of 74 in 80 balls with 4 fours and a six also added 79 runs third wicket stand but Sri Lanka bowlers fought back strong and the hosts were bowled out for 239 as experienced Dushan Hementha with five wickets was leading the way.
