Mayank Agarwal took to X to share a pic after meeting Shah Rukh Khan. The Sunrisers Hyderabad opener gave a hilarious caption to the post. Mayank got a good start against Kolkata Knight Riders but failed to convert it into a big one. SRK was present at the Eden Gardens during KKR’s opening game of the season.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) kicked off their IPL 2024 campaign with a thrilling win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens on Saturday (March 23). KKR’s co-owner, Shah Rukh Khan was present at the stadium to witness his team’s opening match of the tournament. The Bollywood star met the players, coaches and other members of KKR after the game.

He also met the players of the Orange Army. SRH opener, Mayank Agarwal took to X to share a pic after meeting SRK. The senior batsman gave a hilarious caption to his post and wrote: “Don ko pakadna mumkin hai aur baat karna bhi It was a pleasure meeting you @iamsrk.”

Mayank got a good start against KKR but failed to convert it into a big one. He scored 32 off 21 balls while opening the innings with Abhishek Sharma (32 off 19). The duo provided a quick start to SRH and added 60 runs for the first wicket in the big chase to the target of 209, but the visitors fell short by 4 runs in the end.

How SRH lost from a winning position?

SRH made a brilliant comeback in the death overs and slammed 63 runs between the 17th to the 19th over. Heinrich Klaasen did most of the damage and scored 63 off just 29 balls. With just 13 runs needed in the final over, SRH were favourites to win the game.
Harshit Rana did the job and dismissed Klaasen and Shahbaz Ahmed to bring KKR back into the game. SRH needed a boundary on the final ball to tie the game. Pat Cummins failed to connect the ball and KKR won the thrilling encounter by just 4 runs.
Andre Russell did the job with the bat for his team and remained unbeaten on 64 off just 25 balls. Ramandeep Singh made a big difference in the middle overs and smashed 35 off 17 balls. The little-known player hit 4 sixes in his knock.
Phil Salt also played his part and scored 54 off 40 balls. He continued to hold one end and was dismissed in the 14th over. KKR will travel to Bengaluru and square off against Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 29.
SRH will fly to their home and host Mumbai Indians (MI) in their second league stage game on March 27. MI will kick off their campaign against Gujarat Titans on Sunday (March 24).
