Dhananjaya de Silva rescued Dambulla with timely century

Sri Lanka test captain Dhananjaya de Silva lived up to his top notch stature with a timely rescuing century 106 to taking Dambulla from a hopeless 57 for 4 wickets to 260 for 9 in reply to Galle’s 267 st stumps of the second day of the Sri Lanka Cricket National Super League Tournament yesterday at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

Dhananjaya de Silva stuck into the Galle attack hammering 14 boundaries in a 155-ball innings in batting Dambulla back into the game. He shared in a decisive 107-run fifth wicket partnership in 24.1 overs with Sonal Dinusha who made 39 off 63 hitting 4 boundaries and a six

De Silva was eventually eighth out with Dambulla on 237 with Lasith Embuldeniya delivering a lower order unbeaten 54 off 84 balls hitting 4 boundaries and a six.

Meanwhile, Colombo was bundled out for 106 by Kandy who took a box seat 380 lead on their first innings 460 in finishing the second day on 26 for no loss with Janishka Perera on 15 and Pathum Nissanka on 10 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.

Only the first three Colombo batsmen reached double figures before a concentrated Kandy attack led by Shiran Fernando who claimed 4 wickets for 49 runs followed by Sahan Nanayakkara 3 for 18 and Chamindu Wickramasinghe 2 for 8.
