why the coaches want to force these little budding cricketers to bend there back to every dick tom and harry by asking them to worship, by doing this they are inculcating a culture from their childhood to believe bending down and worshiping is the only remady for survival not the self belief, technique, and talent.
Parents should be responsible for encouraging young children to worship coaches who are being paid to train them .
That has been said that some parents do this to make their child get a place in the team for the next match. This is almost like encouraging them to give bribes, slaving and being a…s kissers to do anything to get a position which they might apply to their professional lives as well in future. As if Sri lanka didn’t have enough of these idiots!!
Worshipping a teacher who takes care of a child from a very young age , and worshipping parents have been there in our culture for generations , so it’s understood.but this is totally unacceptable and hilarious !
Some one might say its a buddhist country, our culture and thats the way to respect the elders.
By doing that you will kill the self confidence and their dignity of these kids.
A good tight shake hand and strong I contact will build up a strong bond between the player and the coach.
Lots of coaches try to build their own image by encouraging the students to worship them, also Most of the parents make sure to provoke their children do so having hidden agendas ( to get favorations from coaches. I have heard to my own ears…… (පුතේ වැන්දල වරෙන් කෝච්ට ලබන මැච් එකේ හරි චාන්ස් එකක් දෙයි)
Parents never encourage to worship the class teacher who looks after the student for 7 hours but the coach who hangs around for two hours.
Some of the very few coaches whom I have come across who openly say not to worship him and not to remove the cap is Jeewantha kulathunga and Imal Boteju
