The two high scoring double century driven games where NCCs Lahiru Udara struck 261 against Police SC in a mammoth 631 for 9 declared, and CCCs Dhananjaya de Silva pummelled 204 against BRC, ended in draws with Police SC wriggling out of defeat having followed on scoring 237 and 206 for 6 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium yesterday while BRC bundled out for 243 and following on found time on their side on 65 for 2 at stumps to staving off CCCs header of 532 for 6 declared at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium.
However, Colts CC and Moors SC hit the winning trail against Ace Capital CC and Bloomfield C&AC at the CCC Grounds and Colts CC Grounds respectively.
Colts chased down 178 winning by 7 wickets in just 26.3 overs after spin veteran Akila Dananjaya wrung a match haul of 11 wickets – 4 for 75 and 7 for 69 with Sangeeth Ccoray 52 off 55 balls and veterans – Angelo Mathews unbeaten on 48 off 45, and Dinesh Chandimal 34 leading the run charge.
Moors defeated Bloomfield by 4 wickets on a score of 322 having held their opponents to a first innings 229, but Bloomfield did make a bold declaration of a second innings 239 for 6 that left Moors needing 147 which they did boldly seize up galloping to 152 for 6 in 32.5 overs spurred by Sadeera Samarawickrama’s quick fire 34.
