The unbeaten Colombo South U-17 team met their waterloo when they were subjected to a defeat at the hands of Colombo North U-17 by three wickets in their SLYL limited over tournament encounter played at the Balahalla Stadium in Galle yesterday.
Colombo South taking first lease of the wicket was restricted to a score of 155 and Colombo North in their run chase helped by a half ton from Kavitha de Silva reached the target in the 39th over to record their second win.
Kandy U-17 recorded their third win of the tournament with a 43 runs win over Galle U-17 in another match played at the Galle Stadium. Kandy U17 batting first made a modest score of 304 with Chanul Kodituwakku making a top score of 62.
Later Kandy’s bowling trio of Jayodya Kadigamuwa, Chanul Kodituwakku and Kenula Pihilianga accounted for nine wickets combined to bowl out Galle U-17 for a score of 161.
The two semi-finals are scheduled to be played today with Kandy U-17 meeting Colombo North U-17 and Colombo South U-17 confronting Galle U-17. The final is scheduled to be played on August 29.
