Chilaw Marians batsman Sammu Ashan struck his second century in two weeks versus Badureliya SC in a pleasing form rhythm in a total of 244 to which Badureliya had replied with a bold 227 for 5 wickets in a Sri Lanka Major League Plate Segment match on the second day played at the Welagedera Stadium, Kurunegela.
A significant feature of the match was Badureliya’s Dilshan de Soysa also scoring a dream hundred of 112 in a follow up of the feat last week when he struck a big unbeaten 145 in Badureliya’s win over Nugegoda S&WC as well.
The hard hitting Ashan, the former Ananda College star batsman who was a force to reckon in school cricket, did infuse the type of form that made him a big name in the game at that level scoring 101 yesterday. Kasun Vidura made 43 and Udayawansha Parakrama 28.
Badureliya’s Suminda Lakshan claimed 5 wickets for 51 and Buddika Sanjeewa 4 for 87.
