Alcaraz made history in Monte Carlo, reaching the final after beating his compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets.
The Spaniard appeared very pleased with his semi-final performance, with Alcaraz feeling physically strong ahead of the biggest final of his 2025 season so far.
Despite making it to the championship match, Alcaraz has not had it all his own way at the Monte Carlo Masters and was on the brink of crashing out in his quarter-final.
Carlos Alcaraz says Arthur Fils will compete for big titles soon
It was in that aforementioned quarter-final where Alcaraz found himself a set down against Arthur Fils, and at 5-5 in the second set his opponent had three break points.
However, Alcaraz admitted that Fils made mistakes and allowed him back into the match before he came back to take the win.
Despite getting the better of the Frenchman in their first meeting, Alcaraz told Prakash Amritraj at the Tennis Channel desk in Monte Carlo that he sees big things for Fils’ future.
“Honestly, I don’t feel any difference playing against someone of the same generation as me,” said Alcaraz. “I just come into the match, or try to, in the same way to others.
“But Arthur is someone who is going to be there and I am going to play more than once against him for sure. Physically he is a beast. He is a complete beast. The power on his shots is unbelievably high.
