“Carlos Alcaraz has fitness issue heading into Rotterdam with his main coach named for next two tournaments without Juan Carlos Ferrero

Liam Llewellyn Carlos Alcaraz is dealing with a health issue as he looks to get back on track at the Rotterdam Open.

The Spaniard is set to make his debut at the ATP 500 event, in what will be his first tournament since the Australian Open.

He lost to Djokovic who was struggling with injury and had to retire from his semi-final against Alexander Zverev.

Now Alcaraz seems to be struggling with his health and he prepares to compete in Rotterdam without coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.

The World number now has a chance to put that loss behind him and try to win his first indoor title when he makes his Rotterdam debut.

But according to Spanish outlet Marca, Alcaraz is battling a cold, as he did when competing at the ATP Finals in November.

He completed a week of training at the Ferrero Tennis Academy in Villena and he is set to travel to The Netherlands on Friday to acclimatise to the court conditions at the upcoming tournament.

This will be the first indoor tournament that Alcaraz will play in February since competing in Montpellier back in 2021.
