Bloomfield C&AC crowned themselves the Sri Lanka Cricket Major League champions on innings points over NCC in the final which ended in a no decision at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Bloomfield’s title success came after a 15-year long break.
However, the game took a dull turn with Bloomfield not pressing for an outright win with their first innings of 508 consuming a good part of the final with NCCs first innings taking off on the third day for a score of 312.
As it was, Bloomfield occupied the fourth and final day scoring 242 for 4 wickets with Asitha Wanninayake who scored 96 in the firstu innings, making amends by reaching a well deserved century of 104 off 242 balls hitting 12 boundaries.
Bloomfield skipper Nipun Karunanayake partied with a fine 75 off 120 balls hitting 6 boundaries and 2 sixes while Kasun Abeyrathne made 31.
