Two spinners Jeffrey Vandersay and Ravindu Fernando took five wickets each as Bloomfield fought back to record thrilling 13 runs win over Police SC in their Major Club 3 day cricket fixture played at P.Sara Oval Stadium yesterday.
Police SC the group leaders had to get 135 runs winning target but were all out for 121 with experienced leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay taking 5 for 33 and off spinner Ravindu Fernando capturing 5 for 52. Two spinners did the biggest damage to Police SC batting lineup. This is the first win of the defending champions Bloomfield in this tournament and they rose to second place of the Group A. They lost to Panadura SC last week but came back strongly with this outright win. However Police SC still were on top of the group despite their first out right defeat yesterday .
Ace Capital CC’s all rounder Wanuja Sahan scored his career best knock of 153 in 211 balls with 12 fours and 4 sixes in their drawn game against Baduraliya SC played at CCC grounds. CCC’s Pavan hit centuries in both innings.
Pavan Ratnayake once again came to the highlight when he smashed two centuries in both innings in their drawn cricket fixture against Panadura SC played at Galle Stadium. Ratnayake hit 116 in the first innings and stroked a fine knock of unbeaten 125 in 128 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes.
