Australia Women’s tour of New Zealand, 2025, came to an end with the third T20I played at Sky Stadium, Wellington. The Australian team proved to be a tough team to beat, dominating the three-match series.
Australia Women won the match by 8 runs after choosing to bat first. They posted a total of 180 runs in the 20 overs allocated to them, while their opponents, New Zealand, fell short of the target and scored 172 runs in their 20 overs. Australia required only six batters in their innings. Opener Beth Mooney and Georgia Voll, laid a strong foundation by forming an opening partnership of 64 runs off 52 balls. Beth struck 21 runs off 15 balls before being dismissed in the 8.4 over. After her dismissal, Georgia took charge and scored 75 runs off 57 balls including 8 fours and a six at a strike rate of 131.58.
Despite bowling first, New Zealand’s bowlers had trouble containing the batters and could only take four wickets. Rosemary Mair, Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr and Captain Suzie Bates picked one wicket each.
In New Zealand batting lineup, Amelia Kerr and Maddy Green were the standout performers, scoring 66 runs off 47 balls and 62 runs off 35 balls respectively. The top order batters’ stay in the innings was short- lived before they could make significant contributions. At 54/4, Maddy Green and Amelia Kerr formed a 98-run partnership off 58 balls, increasing the team’s score to 153. Bella James contributed 14 runs while Wicketkeeper, Polly Inglis, was dismissed for a one- ball duck at 160/7.
Australia’s best bowlers were Annabel Sutherland, who took 4/35 and Megan Schutt, who claimed 2/4. Kim, Alana and Tahlia did not take any wickets.
Georgia Voll was named player of the match for her outstanding performance while Beth Mooney awarded player of the series due to her steady batting throughout the series. She scored 75/42, 70/42 and 21 across the three- match series.
