The exhibition of the Australian batters’ power was on show yesterday when Alyssa Healy and Litchfield thumped an unbeaten partnership of 202 runs in record time of 24.1 overs with the former scoring a back to back century of 113 in 70 balls with 20 boundaries and her Co partner Pebeheo Litchfield thumping the Bangladesh bowling for an unbeaten 84 runs in 72 balls with 12 boundaries and a six , after Bangladesh electing to bat made 198 for 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Australian spin trio of Georgia Warrington, Alina King, and Ash Gardner took 6 wickets among themselves, with Alina King winning the player of the match despite her captains back to back century, since her bowling figures had a Shane Warne written all over it with 10 overs 4 maidens 18 runs for 2 wickets. World class leg spin bowling, in fact, the female version of the late Shane Warne.
Georgia Warrington was also impressive with her leg spin prowess , but Ash Gardner, despite her 2 wickets for 48 runs , bowled a lot of deliveries on the leg stump line which is eye brow raising to state the least. What’s up, Ash Gardner? Same statergy she used against India.
Anyways, Australia was not as clinical as expected. Ground fielding had a few knock ons , a few dropped catches in the slip cordon, and Alyssa Healy butter fingering a few , and missing out on a DRS opportunity off the bowling of Dasia Brown the seamer.
Bangladesh must be given credit for opting to bat first and score 198 for 8 wickets, batting their quota against a quality Australian spin and Seam attack.
Annabel Sutherland conceeded 46 runs for her 2 wickets , Schults bowled just 5 overs, conceeding 11 runs, but Darcia Brown went wicketless for 52 runs
Bangladesh is the most improved side amongst the sub continental teams. They have beaten Pakistan, unlucky to lose against England, and South Africa, but they still have 2 more matches in the bag. They play Sri Lanka in Mumbai and also host India at the Mumbai venue.
Bangladesh batters, namely Rubya Hydari, made 44 after being given a life by Alyssa Healy, and Monstary top scored with 66 after Healy declined a DRS assistance when she gloved a ball batting on 35.
Today, Sri Lanka plays South Africa at the RPICS . The game is at the mercy of the weather, Gods.
