Rasika Dugal, who is known for her powerful portrayal of Beena Tripathi in Mirzapur, recently revealed her admiration for superstar Shah Rukh Khan. When asked about her relationships with her husband, Mukul Chadda, and Shah Rukh Khan, Rasika had an amusing response.
She told Bollywood Bubble, “There’s one very long long-distance relationship and one long but short-distance relationship. I have never met Shah Rukh Khan. Whatever I’ve seen of him, I fell in love with him just by watching. I fell in love watching Darr, I fell in love watching Baazigar. It wasn’t just about the romantic hero; anything works as long as it’s SRK. My unadulterated, unconditional love is always there. Maybe for him, I’ll abandon my shyness one day. Maybe.”
The actress also shared the story of her first meeting with her husband, Mukul Chadda. “Chaddha ji and I met in the most cliched way any actors can meet, that was in a theatre. There was a workshop on a Sunday morning. Everyone who attended looked like they had a really long Saturday night because they all seemed hungover. They were thinking, ‘Why have we signed up for this workshop? Why are we here?’”
Recalling the experience, Rasika shared that the workshop instructor, a French woman, struggled with English, making it challenging for participants to follow her instructions. The workshop had about 15 attendees, many of whom appeared reluctant and hungover, questioning why they had signed up. Rasika noted that fellow actors Richha and Kalki were present, with Kalki stepping in as the primary translator between the instructor and the group. Amrita Puri was also among the participants.
During lunch, Rasika and Mukul Chadda began chatting and discovered they had many mutual friends, which came as a pleasant surprise. Reflecting on their chance meeting, she mentioned that they have now been married for 14 years. However, she humorously added that her relationship with Shah Rukh Khan – though from afar – has been even longer.
