The tail waged as Australia with an excellent batting display by Steve Smith and Pat Cummins helped the home team pile up plenty of runs from 311 runs for 6 wickets to 474 all out shortly after the lunch break.
Steve Smith was brilliant with his footwork and soft hands , driving on the up whilst executing an array of well thought out eye hand coordination against some poor bowling by the Indians.
Pat Cummins, who joined the overnight batter Steve Smith, proved that he is no mug with the bat as he thumped the Indian bowling to all parts of the MCG grounds, much to the deligh of the 70,000 spectators and the millions of Television viewers around the world.
Indian bowlers were too predictable and lacked intent, including Jasprit Bumrah, who was off colour this morning. Sad that Pat Cummins deserved a half century, but he will still enjoy having contributed 49 valuable runs to an Australian total of 474.
Rohit Sharma, the Captain of India, will be disappointed with his bowlers because they lost their usual sting this morning on the Melbourne pitch that had some assistance to bowlers who hit the right areas.
Bumrah 4 for 99 , Jadeja 3 for 72, and Akash Deep 2 for 94.
India ended day two on 164 for 5 wickets with only Jaiswal, showing his talent by making a well compiled 82 whilst the top order failed against the quality of Cummins and Scot Boland who took 2 wickets each with an excellent bowling display in line and length deliveries
