Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, a medical practitioner by profession and member of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna is a key playmaker of the newly formed National People’s Power Government which swept the recent General Elections by a two thirds majority where he is the Chief Government Whip and Cabinet spokesman.
He took his oaths as the new minister before.President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday November 18.
Dr. Jayatissa was elected to the Parliament of Sri Lanka in 2024 from Kalutara District. He was previously elected from Kalutara District in 2015.
He takes over the post of chief government whip previously held by Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.
