Hollywood superstar Mark Wahlberg is a massive fight fan, and reckons Mike Tyson may just be able to roll back the years in his ring return.
The A-List actor donned the gloves in his own right to play iconic boxer Micky Ward in 2010’s The Fighter. And he has developed a friendship with heavyweight great ‘Iron Mike’, who faces Jake Paul on Friday night.
He is desperate to claim one of tennis’ four biggest and most prestigious honors but his long and arduous quest to join tennis’ elite continues.
Zverev is one of the most consistent players on tour and Carlos Alcaraz, who became a Grand Slam champion in 2022, thinks his colleague will join the club at some point.
Carlos Alcaraz thinks Alexander Zverev can win a Grand Slam title
For two decades, it became very difficult for players outside of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Younger players such as Alexander Zverev found it extremely difficult to break through and defeat these three legends at the top level.
Now with the emergence of Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who split the Grand Slams between them in 2024, it is only going to get harder for the likes of Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Taylor Fritz to win a major.
But Alcaraz, one of the men who prevented Zverev from winning a Slam this year, is confident he has the game to finally achieve every tennis player’s dream.
“His career? What can I say? 23 or 24 ATP titles, a lot of Masters 1000’s. He missed the grand slam but I said to him, he is going to get it for sure,” he told reporters.
“I don’t know if this year, but at the end of his career he is going to get at least one, let’s see if more. He deserves it. He is a really hard worker and has beaten the big three many times, lifting the big trophies.
“Honestly I don’t like to face him at all because he’s a really tough player to face with his serve, but at the same time I am trying to find the beauty of playing against him.”
How many Grand Slam finals has Alexander Zverev played in?
Zverev has yet to win a Grand Slam title but he has come close on two occasions. In 2020 he reached his first major final at the US Open, and came up against the now retired Dominic Thiem.
The World number two helped a two set lead, but Thiem found his way black, turned the tables and completed a 2-6 4-6 6-4 6-3 7-6(6) victory.
Zverev was left in agony, and he did not return to another major final until the 2024 French Open, and this time he faced Alcaraz.
After losing the first set, Zverev opened up a two set lead but once again was unable to hold on to it.
Alcaraz stormed back to claim a 6-3 2-6 5-7 6-1 6-2 win and lift his third major and first at the French Open, before successfully defending the Wimbledon title.
