Joe Root’s 99 not out has helped England beat India by four wickets to level the series 1-1 at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Sunday. The visitors managed to pick a couple of early wickets to reduce England to 8/2 defending 234 runs, but Root anchored the chase nicely to get England over the line.
Earlier after winning the toss and opting to bowl first England looked in a pickle as Shubman Gill got to a flying start in the first powerplay even after he fell the likes of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer with their half-centuries were racing along nicely before Jofra Archer came back for his second spell to pick three wickets and Saqib Mahmood to picked up a couple of wickets bundling out India for 233 runs.
